Trial Lessons/Gift Vouchers

Whether you wish to try flying with a view to gaining a pilot's licence or would just like to try a single flight, our Trial lessons/ Experience flights make a great day out for you and your family – they also make wonderful presents.

A flight in one of our PA28 trainers could be an indication if flying is for you; it will also show you what a unique and unusual present it could be for friends or family. Your friends can watch from the club-house/restaurant and will be presented with great photo opportunities as you fly and taxy by.

For something really special we can offer the rare chance to actually get your hands on the controls of a WWll vintage open-cockpit American biplane. Your friends can watch as you come back from a trip round the local area, perhaps to your own home, and they can watch as you experience, at your request, some aerobatics including a loop and a stall turn. They will then have a marvelous photo opportunity as you do a low fast fly-by prior to landing. The presentation of a certificate rounds off a never to be forgotten day.

Vintage Stearman

Fly in an ex American Navy trainer the Boeing Stearman. Designed in the 1930s this biplane is a true vintage machine. Originally designed to train US and Canadian pilots to fly before being despatched to war, the Stearman is now a much loved and desired vintage aircraft. Much larger than it's British cousin, the Tigermoth.

With a 7 cylinder 220hp radial engine up front, the noise of the wind in the wires and the smell of oil and leather is evocative of flying as it was in days past. Look out over the side of the open cockpit for great views as you cruise along at 100mph with your instructor. Have the opportunity to take control of the Stearman and try your hand at being that 'silk scarfed' 1940s student. If the weather is suitable the pilot will ask if you would like to try a loop the loop and barrel roll!

20 minutes – What’s Included

Pre-flight familiarisation and safety briefing.
An introduction to the flying controls.
A 20 minute flight in the Boeing Stearman.
Basic aerobatics subject to weather.
Souvenir flight certificate and photograph.

PA-28

Do you ever dream of being a pilot? Now is your chance. After meeting your very experienced flying instructor you will receive a briefing on how the aircraft flies and more importantly how to fly it. After the briefing it's off to the dual controlled aircraft for your flying lesson.

You will sit in the left hand seat - the captain's seat, while your instructor straps in next to you. Your instructor will take off, then it's over to you to try your hand at climbs, turns and descents. Don't forget to look out of the windows and capture the fantastic views as you cruise along at 2000 feet above the ground. After flying back to the airfield the instructor will set the aircraft up for its approach to land and smoothly touch down.

What’s Included

A pre-flight familiarisation and safety briefing.
Introduction to the flying controls and principles of flight.
The flying lesson with a fully qualified instructor.
Post flight debriefing.
